Worker falls to death in Bokaro power plant boiler

RANCHI - A contract labourer was killed and another injured when they fell in a boiler of the Bokaro Thermal Power Plant in Jharkhand Tuesday, police said.

According to police, the two labourers fell in the boiler of plant B of the power plant situated in Bermo block of Bokaro, some 160 km from state capital Ranchi.

The boiler contained burning coal used for power production.

Mohammad Saddam died while being taken to hospital. Jay Prakash, whose condition is serious, has been referred to a hospital in Ranchi for treatment.

The incident sparked protests by workers who demonstrated outside the thermal power plant accusing the management of overlooking safety norms.
