TAREE, AUSTRALIA (GaeaTimes.com)- According to reports, a pit bull terrier attacked a three year-old female toddler and caused serious multiple injuries to the latter. The girl child was attacked while she was playing at her neighbor’s backyard. She was immediately taken to the Manning Base Hospital by a private car and is at present undergoing treatment reportedly.
At around 1:30 pm (AEST), the NSW Ambulance officers were informed of the incident and were asked for an ambulance. The officers went to the home of the victim in Pindari Crescent at Taree immediately. However, by then the family had taken the girl to a nearby hospital in a private car. The bull terrier had attacked the girl on her hips, legs and abdomen. The hospital spokeswoman on Monday said that though the condition of the girl still remains serious, she is at present quite stable. As for the bull terrier, the Greater Taree City Council Rangers have been able to track the bull terrier and according to the spokeswoman, the dog was taken to a vet and killed. The spokeswoman of the council also added that police are investigating the case.
Though bull terriers in general are known for being fun loving and an active breed of dogs, in recent past there have been cases of the animal being involved in ferocious activities. Recently a 7 year-old Florida baby was mauled to death by a pit bull terrier. The baby was reportedly lying next to his mother when the bull terrier attacked. The pit bull terrier, according to the neighbors, belonged to the baby’s father.
