MOHALI - A team of Income Tax officials Friday evening visited the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium here to collect documents and records pertaining to the Indian Premier League, officials said.

According to officials, an 11-member team visited the stadium at 7 p.m. and scrutinised the documents.

“It is not a raid and just like a normal search operation. A team from our investigation wing has gone to the PCA to see if there is any IPL related document. If they find anything, they can seize it for further scrutiny,” Pawan Parmar, director (survey), Income Tax, told IANS.

“However, it is not a big deal and is a regular exercise.”

The move was prompted by the recent controversies in the IPL and its proposed new Kochi team and questions being raised about the sources of its funds, sources said.
