3 workers injured when boom collapses in Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities say three workers were hurt when a cement pumper truck’s boom collapsed at a construction site near the Ohio Statehouse.
Columbus fire Battalion Chief David Whiting says the injuries from the Tuesday morning accident are not life-threatening.
He says that one man was trapped briefly and suffered a broken leg, and that the other two suffered fractures.
Whiting says the boom was fully extended to more than 180 feet and fell onto its side Tuesday as workers pumped concrete at a former mall site.
Federal workplace safety regulators are investigating.
