6th person dies from Wash. state refinery fire
SEATTLE — A sixth person has died from injuries from a Washington state oil refinery blast.
A spokesman for the oil refinery company says Lew Janz died at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The nursing supervisor says a seventh victim, Matt Gumbel, remains in serious condition.
Texas-based Tesoro said Monday that it will shut down the refinery this month until investigations are complete and repairs are made.
A fire engulfed the seven workers April 2. It was the deadliest event at a U.S. refinery since 15 people died at a BP facility in Texas in 2005.
