6.9-magnitude quake hits China

BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale hit China Wednesday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake hit Qinghai province at 7.40 a.m. local time (0519 IST Tuesday), Xinhua reported.

The epicentre was 380 km from Golmud city in Qinghai, with a depth of 46.9 km, the USGS said.
