NEW DELHI - A 28-year-old man was injured when he fell on the tracks at the Barakhamba Metro station early Friday just as a train was approaching, an official said.

The operator of the approaching train had to apply emergency brakes. The victim was rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital. He suffered minor injuries and was later shifted to Max Hospital, Patparganj, for further treatment, the Metro official added.

The victim, Alok Kumar, is an employee of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and is at present posted as a customer relations assistant at the Madipur Metro station, a Delhi Metro official said.

The incident, however, did not affect the movement of trains.

Last month, a woman and man fell on a Metro track and were crushed by a train at the Rajiv Chowk station. Both were critically injured and lost their legs in the accident.
