BEIJING - A man who stole dinosaur egg fossils has been sentenced to a jail term in China, a media report said Friday.
He Hongyan was sentenced to three years in prison for stealing dinosaur egg fossils in central China’s Henan province by a court in Xixia county, China Daily reported.
Hongyan colluded with two others to dig a 10-meter-deep cave on a hillside in Xixia from November 2009 to January 2010.
Police recovered nine fossil dinosaur eggs, six of which were damaged.
Xixia is considered “home of the dinosaur” because of the large number of dinosaur egg fossils discovered there.
