LUDHIANA - A police constable was killed while eight people were injured in a clash between two groups of people over the issue of campaigning for elections to a cooperative society in Ludhiana district of Punjab.
An argument between the groups, involving nearly 30 people, turned violent when some people brought out revolvers and started firing in Choku Mann village Sunday night, police said.
“The deceased has been identified as head constable Harvinder Gora. He was on leave and was in this village in connection with the admission of his son in a school,” Senior Superintendent of Police H.S. Chahal told reporters here Monday.
