RAIPUR - The Chhattisgarh Police Saturday claimed to have busted an over Rs.4 million Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket in a raid carried out at a house Friday night here.

A police team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh stormed into the house in Kanchan Vihar colony in Rajendra Nagar locality when the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab was in its final stages.

“It is an over Rs.4 million betting racket as per the paper slips and documents recovered during the raid. One of the kingpins of the racket, 35-year-old Dabbu Jadwani, was arrested but several of his associates managed to escape,” Singh told media persons.

The police March 19 carried out a similar raid in the state’s second most populous town, Bilaspur, about 100 km from Raipur, and arrested three people for running an IPL betting racket.
