Crash kills 3 Ohio Marine applicants
BRACEVILLE, Ohio — Authorities in Ohio say a crash involving seven vehicles killed three Marine Corps recruits who were headed to Cleveland for their enlistment.
The State Highway Patrol says 19-year-olds Zachery Nolen and Michael Theodore Jr. and 21-year-old Joshua Sherbourne were killed Wednesday after their car was struck from behind by a semi. Investigators say the car was about to proceed through a northeast Ohio intersection when the truck pushed it into traffic, where it was hit by other vehicles.
The Marine Corps says the three had qualified for enlistment but hadn’t signed up. A Marine sergeant was driving them to Cleveland to spend the night and take the enlistment oath Thursday.
No charges have been filed.
