UAE president’s brother killed in plane crash

ABU DHABI - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Tuesday confirmed the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahayan, brother of the country’s president, who was missing since a plane crash, WAM news agency reported.

Sheikh Ahmed, who was the head of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and chairman of the board of trustees of the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works, was in a private plane when it crashed into the ocean March 26 near the Moroccan capital city, Rabat.

The UAE announced a three-day mourning starting Wednesday, when the body is expected to arrive in the country.

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (Adia) is one of the worlds largest sovereign wealth funds.
