Criminal case slapped against BJP legislator

LUCKNOW - A criminal case was lodged Monday against a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator for allegedly seizing a vehicle in Uttar Pradeshs Bareilly district, police said.

Kanshiram, who represents the Shahbad assembly constituency in Rampur district, with his aides had allegedly forcibly taken the Tata Safari of Narendra Rana, a resident of Bareilly district.

After conducting preliminary investigations, the police registered a case against the lawmaker at a police station in Bareilly, some 250 km from Lucknow.

Rana made several pleas to the legislator to get back his vehicle. The legislator not only refused to give the vehicle, but even threatened Rana and his family of dire consequences,” a police official said.

Efforts are on to trace the legislator. We have detained some of his aides to ascertain his whereabouts,” the official added. The vehicle is still in the possession of the bJP legislator, the police added.
