To save mother, brothers kill father

BHOPAL - Two men have been booked in a Madhya Pradesh town on charges of beating to death their drunken father after he tried to kill their mother with an axe, police said Thursday.

Raju, 30, and Pappu, 28, are being sought for killing Totaram Verma (50) in Mhow Wednesday evening.

The sons initially told police that their father was injured after falling from a wall. But an autopsy revealed he was beaten to death.

Police said the two brothers tried to stop their drunken father when he attacked his wife after a row. When he persisted, they charged at him with lathis, killing him.
