GHAZIABAD - Ghaziabad police Wednesday claimed to have solved the January murder of an HDFC Standard Life Insurance manager with the arrest of a man they alleged was having an affair with the victim’s wife.

Police said Deepak Teotia did not die in an accident as earlier believed but was murdered by his wife Megha’s lover Vineet Suman, a BBA second year student of a private college in Noida.

Megha and Vineet were involved in a relationship since they were studying together in class 12 at the Dehradun Public School in Ghaziabad, Senior Superintendent of Police Raghubir Lal said.

“The call details of the two show that they were in regular touch with each other through SMSes and phone calls. On certain days, the two even talked to each other for as many as 25 times a day. Even on the day after Teotia was murdered, the two talked to each other,” Lal said.

“We have also detained the deceased’s wife Megha for further questioning,” he added.

Deepak Teotia was working as a sales development manager at HDFC Standard Life Insurance in its RDC branch. He was the son-in-law of Sanjay Nagar municipal councillor Satpal Singh and stayed in D-block, Sanjay Nagar.

On Jan 14, Depak Teotia was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a drain in the posh Raj Nagar District Centre (RDC) area of Ghaziabad.

His family had then claimed that his wife Megha had called him up around 11 p.m. on Jan 13 night to ask when he was returning home. To this, he reportedly told her that he was reaching home in 10-15 minutes. But, he failed to reach home.

Deepak Teotia had married Megha three years back. He and his wife had a seven month old daughter.

The staff of HDFC Standard Life Insurance then told police that Deepak had had a drink at a wine shop situated just across the road, at around 10.30 pm. that night.
