PATNA - A special court Monday convicted three men in the murder of whistle blower Satyendra Dubey, who had exposed corruption in the Golden Quadrilateral project.

A Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here Monday held the three accused - Mantu Kumar, Udai Kumar and Pinku Ravidas — guilty of murdering Dubey. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment March 27, a court official said.

Dubey, a 31-year-old graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), was working with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and posted with the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s pet project, when he was murdered in Gaya district Nov 27, 2003.

The incident came after he wrote to the Prime Minister’s Office detailing corrupt practices rampant in the project, and a nexus among corrupt officials, politicians and contractors.
