Report: 2 die after small planes collide over Fla.
WILLISTON, Fla. — Authorities are saying that two small planes have collided over central Florida and two people have been killed.
Levy County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Evan Sullivan confirmed the two fatalities to WCJB-TV on Saturday.
The crash occurred several miles from the Williston Municipal Airport. Debra Jones, the chairwoman of the city’s airport committee, says one of the planes was a home-built aircraft.
Jones says neither plane took off from the airport, and it’s not clear if either was trying to land there. Jones says the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating.
Williston is about 85 miles northwest of Orlando.
