Man arrested, charged with assaulting woman

NEW DELHI - A man was Saturday charged with house-break and assault on a 55-year-old woman inside her south Delhi home, police said.

The man, identified as Harish, was a vagabond and was presented beore a court Saturday after he allegedly attacked the woman inside her Hauz Khas house Friday, police said.

“He has been charged with assaulting the woman and is under arrest,” a police official said.

According to the official, the victim was asleep inside her house when Harish barged into her house and attacked her.

The woman has said that she had locked her house from inside but Harish broke into the house around 2 a.m. She alleged that Harish tried to rape her and when she resisted, people nearby heard the commotion and caught the man, the officer added.
