US soldier dies in vehicle accident in north Iraq

BAGHDAD — The U.S. military says an American soldier has died in a vehicle accident in Iraq.

A statement by the military says the United States Division - North soldier died of injuries sustained in a vehicle roll-over while conducting a patrol in northern Iraq on Monday.

It says three other soldiers were injured and evacuated to a military medical facility where they are being treated.

The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The death raises to at least 4,383 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003. That’s according to an Associated Press count.
