RAJPURA - Five members of a gang have been arrested for stealing cars from the parking areas of busy markets in this town in Punjab’s Patiala district, police said Friday.

Five cars, 25 mobile phones and 70 car batteries were recovered from the gang, police said.

“To dodge the police, one of the gang members, who drove the stolen vehicle, always wore a security guard’s uniform. The members sold the spare parts of the stolen vehicles in various parts of Punjab and in other states,” police said.

The accused have been identified as Gurcharan Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Avtar Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Hari Singh.

Rajpura is around 35 km from state capital Chandigarh.
