LUCKNOW - A 24-year-old drug peddler from Manipur has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district with heroin worth Rs.4 crore, supplied from Pakistan, police said Thursday.
Sahid Rafizuddin was arrested late Wednesday from the Mugalsarai railway station in Chandauli district, about 300 km from here.
“Acting on a tip-off, a team of Government Railway Police along with the district police nabbed Rafizuddin from platform number two of the railway station,” GRP inspector Tripurari Pandey told reporters in Chandauli.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that Rafizuddin works for one Ibrahim, who brings heroin and other drugs from Pakistan and supplies them to northern parts of the country,” he added.
According to police, Rafizuddin has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPDS) Act.
During interrogation, Rafizuddin had provided vital clues to unearth several drug rackets in the state, police said.
