RAIPUR - Four suspected Maoists abducted a man employed with the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) security wing in Chhattisgarh, police sources said Monday.

Though a compliant is yet to be filed, the sources said that Vinay Singh Chouhan, 26, was picked up in a forested area, 450 km south of here, in Dantewada district Sunday evening while returning to his village Kookanar from Gorli.

“Four armed men stopped his vehicle and took Chouhan away. When his friends intervened, they were told he was being taken for interrogation,” a police source told IANS.

Chouhan was employed with the security wing of a DRDO unit in Baster region and was home on leave.

Dantewada Superintendent of Police Amresh Mishra said: “We are trying to find out the details.”

Kookanar police station in-charge A. Toppo said over phone: “His family confirmed that Chouhan had been taken away. Preliminary information suggests the hand of Maoists.”
