Over 25 injured in Orissa clash

BHUBANESWAR - More than 25 people were injured when two groups of villagers clashed Wednesday in Brahmagiri area of Orissa’s Puri district, police said.

The villagers hurled bombs and exchanged gunfire over their differences on collection of money during Holi, a police officer said.

The villagers of Rebana Nuagaon and Jagannathpur also burnt several houses during the clash.

“The clashes started between two villages over differences during Holi. We have rushed additional forces to the area. We have also made some arrests in this connection,” Superintendent of Police of Puri Sanjay Kumar told IANS.

“The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals,” he said.
