AMBALA - A gangster, taken by police to a local court in this Haryana town, was shot dead by three unidentified men within the court premises Wednesday, an official said.

According to police, Rakesh alias Bobby was coming out of the court room after a hearing when three unidentified men started firing at him.

“There were three assailants, wearing black coats of lawyers, who suddenly attacked Bobby. He received bullet injuries on his back and neck. Police immediately took him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” said a police officer.

Police have registered a case against three unidentified people and started their investigation.

Police had presented Bobby in the court of the judicial magistrate in connection with a pending murder case.

Bobby’s mother and wife were also present in the court when the shooting occurred.

“It seems to be a work of some rival gang or some old enemy. We have got reports that few months back, some miscreants had shot dead Bobby’s two close relatives here,” the officer added.
