BEIJING - A Chinese student has appeared in court for allegedly knifing to death another student over his snoring, news reports said Tuesday.

Guo Liwei, 23, confessed to the court Monday that he could no longer tolerate the snoring of his roommate Zhao Yan, 22, a fellow student at Jilin Agricultural University in north-eastern China, the China News Service reported.

The relationship between the students deteriorated after Guo posted a video of Zhao’s snoring on the university network, the report said. After Zhao confronted him, Guo said he decided to kill him, buying a knife and stabbing him as he slept Nov 14.

Guo then called the police on his mobile phone to surrender. The information technology student is currently waiting for the court to hand down his sentence.
