PATNA - A team from the Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau Tuesday carried out a raid at the residence of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Senthil Kumar, who is absconding for nearly a week, police said here.

A police officer said the bureau carried out a raid at the residence of Senthil Kumar for the second time within a week.

“Kumar, the outgoing Patna Municipal Commissioner, is absconding. He went underground after the vigilance bureau carried out raids at his office and residence in Patna last week,” a police officer told IANS.

A vigilance bureau official said Kumar went underground to escape arrest but will be arrested soon. “The bureau had issued a notice to him, asking him to come forward,” the official said.

During the raids, the vigilance officials seized some files, documents and bank drafts.

The IAS officer came under the scanner after complaints of irregularities surfaced in purchase of machine and equipments for his office.

The agency came to know about Kumar’s immovable property in Patna, Delhi and Chennai. He reportedly owns Chennai Cafe and Sudha departmental store in the Harihar Chamber at Boring Road in Patna.
