RAIPUR - Nearly 280 Holi revellers were rounded up across Chhattisgarh Monday, 90 of them in state capital Raipur alone, for drunken driving and other crimes, police said.

The people were rounded up in Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Korba, Raigarh, Bhilai and Jagdalpur towns for rash driving in drunken state, while some were picked up for fighting with people, officials at the police headquarters told IANS.

Holi was celebrated with fervour and gaiety across the state amid tight security. No report of any untoward incident was received from any part.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party leaders had a low-key Holi as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh veteran and former Rajya Sabha member Nanaji Deshmukh passed away Saturday.
