LUCKNOW - A woman and her four children were found murdered in their house in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, the police said Friday.
The incident took place in Morakandar village in Hamirpur, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“We are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the killings. Investigations are on to nab the culprits,” police inspector C.L. Chaudhary told reporters in Hamirpur.
Police have ruled out theft or robbery behind the killings, as no valuables were stolen.
“Prima facie it appears, all the five died of injuries inflicted by some sharp-edged weapon,” he added.
The head of the family Jagdish, a farmer, had left the village Friday as he was to meet some lawyers regarding a case.
“Jagdish, the husband of the slain woman, is yet to return. We are waiting for him and believe he could provide us vital information to solve the case,” said Chaudhary.
