Chief post master general nabbed while taking Rs.2 crore bribe

MUMBAI - Maharashtra’s Chief Post Master General M.S. Bali has been caught while accepting a bribe of Rs.2 crore, a top Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official said here Thursday.

Bali was caught red-handed by the CBI Wednesday night.

CBI Western Region Director Rishi Raj Singh said investigators also recovered Rs.34 lakh in cash from his residence in south Mumbai and more than $10,000 as well as British pounds and euros.

Bali also owns two expensive cars, a bank locker in Gwalior and a huge cache of liquor, Singh said.

The bribe was demanded in return for granting a no-objection certificate to develop a plot of land belonging to a private builder in Mira Road suburb of Thane district, he said.
