US military: Soldier dies in Iraq in accident

BAGHDAD — The U.S. military says an American soldier has died in an accident in western Baghdad.

According to a statement released by the U.S. military, the soldier died in a vehicle related accident on Tuesday.

The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The death raises to at least 4,379 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
