INDORE - Six persons, including two policemen, were injured in a clash between two groups here, police said Monday.

The incident occurred in Kadawghat locality late sunday night, when a cyclist ran into two persons belonging to a different community. The accident led to arguments and a scuffle after which the cyclist left the spot, the police said.

However, he returned with some of his friends and a major fight ensued between the two groups attracting a huge crowd of onlookers.

Police had to fire several rounds of teargas shells to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control, Indore Senior Superintendant of Police Shriniwas Rao told IANS.

Six persons, including two policemen, were hurt in the incident.

“While about half a dozen people including two cops have been injured, one person who has received severe head injuries has been admitted to a private hospital where his condition is said to be stable,” Indore Collector Rakesh Shrivastav said.

Police deployment in the area has been beefed up to keep the situation under control.
