Student commits suicide in Lucknow

LUCKNOW - A Class 12 student here allegedly committed suicide Monday by shooting himself with his father’s licensed gun, police said.

Abhishek Singh, a resident of the Vikas Nagar Colony in Lucknow, Monday evening shot himself while he was alone at his residence.

“No suicide note has been recovered…Investigations are on to ascertain the cause behind the suicide,” police inspector R.P. Yadav told reporters here.

“It may be a case of examination-stress. We definitely cannot rule out this possibility,” he added.

Singh’s father Ajit Kumar is an employee with the weights and measurement department.
