LUCKNOW - The Uttar Pradesh government has entrusted the Special Task Force (STF) with finding a 53-year-old woman government official, who has been missing along with her driver since Friday, an official said Monday.
Rakesh Jain, district manager of state Food and Essential Commodities Corporation, posted in Sitapur, has been missing since last Friday.
“A team of STF would now probe the case. We would make every effort to trace the woman official,” Additional Director General (law and order) Brij Lal told reporters here.
According to the police, Rakesh was last seen Friday afternoon when she left her Laxminagar office in Sitapur to attend a meeting called by Additional District Magistrate (ADM), food and civil supplies, Vinod Kumar Maurya.
However, she did not reach the ADM’s office.
Significantly, police do not rule out the possibility of her being kidnapped.
“Rakesh’s driver is also missing since Friday. We cannot deny his (driver) role in kidnapping,” a senior police officer in Sitapur told IANS.
