Delhi robbers arrested in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD - Four men who escaped after committing a robbery in Delhi were arrested when they ran into a police patrol in neighbouring Ghaziabad.

The robbers were fleeing from Shahdara in east Delhi. When they crossed into Loni in Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh, little did they realize that police were on a special drive against crime.

Senior Superintendent of Police Raghuvir Lal said that the criminals had robbed a dry fruits shop after critically injuring its owners Surendra Pal Narula and Jai Pal Narula.

“Our experienced head constable and a Home Guard recognized them when they were being screened,” he said.

Said Lal: “The police have done a good job. I have announced a reward of Rs.5,000 for the Loni police team in addition to a reward of Rs.1,000 each to the Home Guard and the head constable.”

The arrested men were identified as Aneesuddin, Nafees, Monu and Yamin. Their gang leader Ravinder alias Kalu and four others are absconding.
