BHUBANESWAR - The discovery of a seven-year-old boy’s beheaded body in Orissa’s Jajpur district triggered tension Thursday, with villagers suspecting it to be an act of human sacrifice by a tantrik, police said.

The boy, Srikanta Bagi, a resident of Kubal village, had been missing since Feb 11. While his body was found in a field in nearby Ichhapur village, some 150 km from here, the severed head and two old human skulls were found in a hamlet half a kilometre away.

The hamlet is home to Pitambara Gaipai, a tantrik who practises black magic. Villagers suspect he killed the boy as sacrifice, they told police. Gaipai is absconding, police say.

“Police have recovered the body, severed head and the skulls. Further investigation is on,” District Superintendent of Police D.S. Kuttey told IANS.
