Authorities name men thought to be on Calif. plane

EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. — Authorities have identified the three people believed to have been on board a small plane that crashed in a Silicon Valley neighborhood.

The San Mateo County coroner identified Doug Bourn, Andrew Ingram and Brian Finn as likely being on board the aircraft during the crash, although the office has not yet officially confirmed the identities of the three people who died.

The people on the plane were employees of electric car maker Tesla Motors Inc.

The plane was registered to Air Unique Inc., and state records show the company is owned by Doug Bourn of Santa Clara. Tesla has said Bourn is a senior electrical engineer at the company.

Federal investigators say there were no distress calls made from the plane, and the last communication from the pilot was regarding takeoff from Palo Alto Municipal Airport on Wednesday morning amid heavy fog.

EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) — Federal investigators are examining the site of a small plane crash in a Silicon Valley neighborhood that killed three employees of electric car maker Tesla Motors.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board were on site Thursday trying to reconstruct what happened by interviewing witnesses and inspecting wreckage and skid marks on the street.

The twin-engine Cessna 310 went down in East Palo Alto Wednesday after taking off from a nearby airport shrouded in fog.

It crashed into a residential street after striking a high-transmission power line. No one was injured on the ground.

Investigators plan to release a preliminary report on their findings next week. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
