SANTO DOMINGO - A charity in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent 200 tonnes of relief materials to quake-hit Haiti, WAM news agency reported Sunday.

The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation has sent the items Saturday on the orders of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

About 500 tonnes of relief materials that were purchased in the neighbouring Dominican Republic will be transported to Haiti by road, the foundation said in a statement.

The latest aid is being supplied after a delegation of the foundation made a survey of the ground situation in Haiti.
