Rs.15 lakh robbery in Ghaziabad jewellery shop

GHAZIABAD - A group of five armed robbers looted cash and jewellery worth about Rs.15 lakh from a shop in Rajendra Nagar area of Ghaziabad Sunday evening, police said.

According to police, at about 6 p.m., the robbers, armed with pistols and knives, barged into the show room of D-Noor Jewellers opposite Ambe Hospital in Rajendra Nagar.

They overpowered the owner Rajat at gun point and took away the keys of showcases, cash box and cupboards and fled with all the available cash and jewellery.

“During their swift operation, two robbers remained on motorcycles outside, while three committed the robbery. After the robbers fled, the owner Rajan shouted for help and the neighbours informed police,” Circle Officer (Border) Vir Singh said.

“Although the owner is preparing an inventory, but the robbed goods are estimated at Rs.15 lakh,” he added.
