Crashed US Army helicopter was on training flight
FRANKFURT — The U.S. Army says a helicopter that crashed in western Germany, killing three soldiers, was on a training mission. It is still investigating the incident.
The UH-60 Black Hawk crashed Wednesday night around 6:45 p.m. (1745GMT), killing its three-member crew.
The helicopter was en route to Coleman Army Airfield in Mannheim when it went down in a thick patch of woods near the A67 highway.
No one on the ground was injured.
The U.S. Army said in a statement Thursday that the names of the soldiers killed were being withheld until their relatives could be notified.
