MANILA - Five children were killed when they were accidentally electrocuted while playing in the Philippines, police said Wednesday.

The children, aged between 4 and 7, were playing in a rice field near a creek in Pila town in Laguna province, just south of Manila, when the accident happened Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, the provincial police director, said one of the victims accidentally touched a live electrical wire while playing in the ricefield.

“The other victims tried to help but all were also electrocuted,” he said, adding that the children were rushed to a nearby clinic where doctors declared them as brought dead.
