BOKARO - A contract labourer died and four were injured in an accident in the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSP) early Tuesday, an official said.

The accident took place when a roof platform collapsed. The labourers were standing on the roof.

According to an official, Ranjan Nayak and others fell from more than 35 feet height in Blast Furnance-II.

Nayak, 38, was working for Larson and Tubro for development and modernisation work of the steel plant.

Angered labourers staged demonstration, saying the company violated the safety norms.

“An inquiry has been ordered to know the reasons of the accident. One of the dependent of the killed labourer will get a job,” Chief of Corporate Communication Sanjay Tewary said.
