LUCKNOW - Six members of a family were set on fire in a Uttar Pradesh village over a land dispute, police said Monday.

Kisan Chand, a farmer and resident of Beejpur village in Mahoba district, was set on fire along with his wife and four children, according to police.

“Chand’s wife and three children have suffered serious burn injuries. Their condition is said to be very critical,” police inspector Mukteshwar Nath told reporters in Mahoba.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that Chand had a land dispute with Wahid Khan of the same village.

“Wahid along with his henchmen today (Monday) barged into Chand’s house and set the family on fire. Wahid and his aides (have) managed to escape,” the official said.
