ABU DHABI - A United Arab Emirates (UAE) based charity has delivered large amounts of aid to the victims of the Jan 12 quake in Haiti, WAM news agency reported Saturday.

Over 1500 families in Croix des Bouquets area, three kilometres from Port au Prince, capital of the quake-hit Haiti have received humanitarian relief assistance from the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA).

According to head of RCA’s delegation to Haiti Humaid Al-Shamsi, the UAE’s biggest charity and relief organisation is set to increase its humanitarian supplies to Haitians in the coming days.

Immediately after the disaster, RCA focused its efforts on saving the lives of the injured victims and supporting the capabilities of hospitals and health centres, he said.

RCA has sent about 145 tonnes of relief material to Haiti by air and via the Dominican Republic by land.
