HAITI (GaeaTimes.com)- “Hope for Haiti” a telethon presented by MTV attempted to contribute to the fund raising scheme for Haiti. The concert included eminent performers who graced the stages and touched the audience. According to reports, the United States raised about $200 million fund last week. This telethon will help increase the amount. The numbers performed can be downloaded from iTunes which will help in further donations.

The two-hour “Hope for Haiti” telecast had 19 performances. The performers list included Justin Timberlake, Matt Morris, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Wyclef Jean, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce Knowles, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and many more. Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris’s duet, almost half-tempo number “Hallelujah” of Leonard Cohen received good public response. Stevie Wonder performed an abridged version of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” The performance revealed Stevie Wonder’s vocal range. It stirred emotions. Wyclef Jean performed a medley which started with reggae classic, “Rivers of Babylon” and ended it with a hard-driving number which added color to the evening. Beyonce Knowles slightly changed the version of “Halo” and instead of singing “Baby, I can see your halo” she dedicated the number to affected Haitians. She sang “Haiti, I can see your halo.” This was truly motivating and appropriate for the occasion. Chris Martin accompanied her with the piano. The Oscar winner, Jennifer Hudson sang “Let It Be” of Beatles. The song was a nice blend of thanking God and mourning at the same time. Her voice depicted pain.

The evening of “Hope for Haiti” telethon was truly eventful which included amazing performances for a good cause. We should extend a helping hand and encourage this kind of shows to help Haiti come out of this nightmare.
