Goods train derails in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW - Rail traffic was disrupted on the Mathura-Kanpur route after a goods train derailed in Uttar Pradeshs Kanshiram Nagar district Saturday afternoon, officials said. No casualty was reported.

The goods train, heading towards Kanpur from Mathura, derailed near the Kasganj station, some 300 km from Lucknow.

Four wagons of the goods train derailed,” Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector Danveer Singh told reporters in Kanshiram Nagar.

The exact reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained. Railway officials have already initiated an enquiry in this regard,” he added.

According to officials, the derailment has affected movement of several trains. The work to restore rail traffic on the route was under way.
