US military: Soldier dies in Iraq vehicle accident
BAGHDAD — The U.S. military in Iraq says a soldier has died of injuries from a vehicle accident that was not related to combat.
A military statement released Thursday says the United States Forces-Iraq soldier died Wednesday. The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The accident is under investigation and no further details have been released.
The death raises to at least 4,374 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003. That’s according to an Associated Press count.
