GHAZIABAD - In a shocking turn of events, the Ghaziabad police today said that the man who was accused of a murder at a police staff flat here was, in fact, killed by his younger brother, who they said had misled them.

Police had Tuesday said Hemant Singh, 24, son of fire station officer in Ghaziabad, was arrested after the police were alerted by his younger brother Sachin, 18. Sachin old the police that when he returned in the morning to the flat where the two brothers stayed, he found Hemant cleaning blood stains from the floor and walls of the house.

The police also said that Hemant had been arrested.

However, Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Yaduvendra Wednesday claimed that Sachin misled the police by his earlier statement.

They said that it was Sachin who hacked Hemant with an axe, for which he got the money from his step brother Prashant.

“Hemant used to torture the younger brother (Sachin) for petty issues. He then conspired to eliminate him with the help of his step brother Prashant,” Yaduvendra said.

After killing Hemant, Sachin called Prashant who assisted him in dumping the body in Hindon canal.
