Earthquake Shakes Guatemala At A Magnitude of 6.0 On Monday

GUATEMALA (GaeaTimes.com)– The relief teams of several organizations are still struggling to provide adequate relief measures to the thousands of victims of Haiti earthquake. Meanwhile, the news of another quake affecting Guatemala shocked people in Monday morning. They were worried about the outcome of this earthquake and prayed for the safety of the people in this region. Though there were huge anxiety regarding this quake, reports indicate that there was no need to panic as the Guatemala earthquake had not caused any significant damage in the area.
As per the reports, the Guatemala earthquake which hit at a distance of around 100 kilometer in the southwestern part of Guatemala City also rocked some parts of El Salvador in Monday morning. Many residents of this region started to call the government offices to inform about the quake that they felt.
Though people reported that they felt the shakes, none of them informed about any damages following the quake. There were no reports of major injury after the Guatemela earthquake. Though the earthquake did not cause any disastrous impact on the area, people were worried considering that it might have some link with the Haiti quake. However, the seismologists of Guatemela City stated that this quake did not have any kind of connection with the deadly quake that destroyed the civilization of Haiti a few days back. Though the earthquake had recorded a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter Scale, people in the region were safe. No tsunami alert has been issued so far by the officials so far.
