Abbott boosts Haiti donations to $2.5 million
NEW YORK — Drug and health care products company Abbott Laboratories said Tuesday it increased its aid to Haiti to $2.5 million for relief and recovery efforts following a devastating earthquake.
The company will now provide $2.5 million in grant funding and donations of critical pharmaceutical and nutritional products to humanitarian aid organizations, Abbott said. Last week, the North Chicago company said it would donate $1 million.
Abbott said it has given more than $34 million in grants and product donations to Haiti since 2007 to help address health needs in the poverty-stricken nation.
