Verizon Foundation gives $100K in Haiti quake aid

NEW YORK — The Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications Inc., said Thursday it gave $100,000 to two nonprofit groups helping victims of Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti.

The foundation gave $50,000 each to World Vision and Food for the Poor.

The foundation also said it will match each dollar that its employees donate to those two nonprofits, up to $1,000 per employee.
